ROUNDTABLE: A New Financial Order
What fundamental changes will we see in the global financial system over the next decades?  Is the American and/or Canadian version of capitalism sustainable? Who will take the lead in managing the global economy? How does influence from China, India, and even Brazil shift the balance of power? Will Canada’s tie to the US shift? Can we expect accountability to take center stage? Should we expect the emergence of new global financial institutions?

11:00 – 12:00 am
ROUNDTABLE: Green Space vs. Closet Space
With a new “green collar” sector providing over 2 million new jobs by 2012, what new products, services, branding opportunities, career opportunities, and investment opportunities can we expect? Will renewable energy and energy efficient industries take over? Will the food and agricultural industries, for example, completely re-invent themselves? With such profound change and innovation in green space, what are the implications for storage and waste management on our global space?  Will we experience new technologies and solutions? Are there enforceable rights to an eco-system? Will bacteria come into vogue and be re-engineered for our better tomorrow?

12:00 – 1:30 pm LUNCHEON

LUNCHEON KEYNOTE

Dr. Dee Daniels

ROUNDTABLE: Leadership: Brain Research or Bias?
What are we discovering through neuroscience about emotions and brain chemistry in the workplace? Can a leader’s social skills, emotional stability and actions actually change morale and productivity?  Can genetic data reveal the fitness of a leader? How do the differing brain patterns in males and females impact their ability to receive and process feedback? How many “brains” do we actually lead with? What is being discovered about connectivity and gender bias? Is a holistic model of management the new paradigm for the 21st century?

3:00 – 4:15 pm
ROUNDTABLE: Emerging Leaders Town Hall
In 2009, we are grooming emerging leaders with renewed passion, but we rarely sit down to listen to their voices. Our Town Hall gives us an opportunity to pose tough questions and have a candid conversation. We will explore the following:

  1. What does your current company do or provide that encourages you to stay with the organization?
  2. What could “go wrong” inside a company that would cause you to leave?
  3. Who has helped you climb and grow in your career?
  4. What obstacles have you faced in getting to your current position?
  5. Do you face conflicts at home, i.e. elder or child care, that are obstacles to your career pursuits?
  6. Does any personal relationship present barriers to your success?
  7. Would you “go global” and consider a career opportunity in China or India?
  8. How many different organizations have you worked for in your career thus far?

4:15 – 4:30 pm            CLOSING REMARKS

4:30 – 6:00 pm            COCKTAIL RECEPTION
